The FEMTO Network in partnership with the GDR Ultrafast Phenomena and the GDR CHIRAFUN invites you to a thematic day dedicated to measurements of ellipsometry with femtosecond laser pulses, at FIAP Jean Monnet in Paris. Initially scheduled for December 9th 2019, this thematic day will take place March 24th 2020, at FIAP Jean Monnet in Paris.

During this day, we will illustrate different aspects of chirality measurements with femtosecond laser sources. We will cover both the technical aspects of measuring the chiral response of different states of matter to circularly polarized light waves and the generation of ultra-short "chiral" light pulses with spin angular momentum or orbital angular momentum and their potential for their application to chirality measurements. We will also discuss the circular magnetic dichroism of X-rays for the study of spin dynamics in ferromagnetic nanostructures.

This day aims at promoting exchanges between the different communities interested in the development and the use of ultra-short laser sources for measuring chiroptic and magnetic properties of matter. We will discuss the current technological challenges, the perspectives for the development and the use of femtosecond ellipsometry.
